Job summary

Queen Creek Unified School District in Queen Creek, AZ is seeking a Bus Attendant to provide a safe environment for the transportation of special needs students.

You will assist drivers, tie down wheelchairs, and help prepare vehicles, while maintaining professional communication with staff.

This role requires reliability, a clean background, fingerprint clearance, and a willingness to obtain First Aid/CPR.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must pass a background clearance.
  • Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Must have an excellent attendance record.
  • Must have, or be willing to obtain, First Aid and CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist school bus driver in maintaining order for special needs students on District vehicles.
  • Tie-down wheelchairs and use other restraints as needed.
  • Safeguard all supplies and equipment.
  • Help prepare and clean special needs vehicles.
  • Communicate professionally with Director of Transportation, drivers, and staff.
  • Provide departmental reports as requested.
  • Complete written reports on accidents, vehicle damage and student injury situations.
  • Be willing to work split shifts as determined by the Director of Transportation.
  • Attend mandatory department meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information about staff and students.
  • Perform other job-related duties to advance district priorities.

Per QCUSD salary schedule for applicable position

REPORTS TO:

Director ofTransportation

HOURS:

35 hrs, Monday - Friday 5:30 - 9 AM; 12:45- 4:15 PM

CLASSIFICATION:

Hourly, Non-exempt

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Provide assistance to school bus driver in maintaining order and discipline for special needs students riding on District vehicles.
  • Be able to tie-down wheelchairs and use other special needs restraints.
  • Safeguard all supplies and equipment.
  • Help prepare and clean special needs vehicles.
  • Communicate with Director of Transportation, vehicle drivers, and District staff in a professional manner.
  • Provide departmental reports as requested.
  • Complete written reports and discuss with Director of Transportation all accidents, vehicle damage and student injury situations.
  • Be willing to work split shifts, as determined by the Director of Transportation.
  • Attend mandatory department meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information about staff and students.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.
