Ysleta Independent School District seeks a dedicated transportation attendant to ensure the safe care of students with disabilities during bus transport and to assist the bus driver in maintaining orderly and secure travel. The role supports SHARS program requirements and district policies.
Responsibilities include loading/unloading students, securing seating, and checking the bus for safety before each trip.
Responsible for delivering medically necessary personal care services to students with disabilities during transportation on specialized vehicles, in accordance with each student's Individual Education Program (IEP) as part of the district's School Health and Related Services (SHARS) program. Assist the bus driver with the care and safety of students and other authorized person being transported to and from school and school-related activities. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as district policies, procedures, and regulations.
High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); complete competency-based Activities of Daily Living/Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (ADL/IADL) and Random Moment Time Study (RMTS) training; basic computer skills; subject to federal drug and alcohol testing regulations; must be able to follow verbal instructions and have effective interpersonal and communication skills; ability to read, write, understand, and speak English; must be able to operate safety equipment and adaptive equipment; must be able to work well with children with disabilities.
Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress. Requires continual sitting; requires moderate standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, and squatting. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs. or more repeatedly during the course of work hours.
