Job summary

Zūm is seeking a school bus attendant in Branford, CT to help keep students safe during transportation. You will assist with boarding, monitor behavior, and support drivers. This is a safety-sensitive role requiring strong attention to safety and communication with school staff.

Compensation is $17.34–$18.32 per hour. A HS diploma, valid license/ID, and ability to pass background checks and drug tests are required. Split AM/PM shifts are typical.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license/ID/work authorization.
• Background checks and drug test required.
• Ability to work split AM/PM shifts.
• Experience with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus safely.

Description

As a school bus attendant at Zūm, you will play a crucial role in ensuring student safety and maintaining a positive environment during school transportation.This is a safety-sensitive positionbecause you are responsible for the care and supervision of students while the vehicle is in motion, and any impairment could create a significant risk of harm. School bus attendants must be patient, attentive, and able to manage student behavior while supporting the bus driver's focus on safe vehicle operation.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus safely
• Monitor student behavior and maintain order during transit
• Support students with special needs, including operating wheelchair lifts
• Assist with emergency evacuations and safety procedures
• Communicate effectively with drivers, parents, and school staff

Requirements

• This role is classified as a safety-sensitive position
• Minimum age: 21 years
• Valid driver's license/identification card/work authorization
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to pass background checks and drug test
• Ability to work split shifts (AM/PM) daily
• Experience working with children (preferred)
