The Bus Assistant supports safe and reliable student transportation by assisting the bus driver with student management, safety, and care during transit and boarding/alighting.

Responsibilities Include:

• Assist students with entering/exiting the bus safely.
• Secure students using seat belts, car seats, wheel chair restraints, etc.
• Model positive attitude, good moral character, and integrity.
• Monitor passenger behavior to ensure safety and conduct rules are followed.
• Manage student behavior through communication and discipline per company policy.
• Report violations or concerns to the appropriate authority.
• Assist in emergency evacuations if necessary.
• Ensure children take their belongings when leaving the bus.
• Help keep the bus interior clean and presentable.
• Complete required paperwork promptly.
• Maintain professionalism and promote goodwill with all stakeholders.
• Present a neat appearance and report on time.
• Attend training and safety meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old (19 in NY).
• Meet physical and medical requirements.
• Complete and pass all training and safety meetings.
• Attention to detail and dexterity for handling restraints and wheelchairs.
• Ability to relate well with children and maintain effective behavior management.
• Professionalism and strong communication skills.
• Ability to lift and assist students when necessary.
