City of Lincoln & Lancaster County, through StarTran, is seeking a Bus Apprentice Mechanic to gain hands-on experience maintaining, inspecting, and repairing City-owned buses. You will work with experienced mechanics and progress toward a Bus Journey Mechanic role, with ASE certification advancement after probation and certification.
Hours are Monday through Saturday with shift bids; the position is safety-sensitive and subject to drug testing policies.

This position lifts up to 25 pounds.
Upon successful completion of probation and required ASE certifications, you will be eligible to advance to Bus Journey Mechanic.
Hours: Monday - Saturday; Hours to be determined by shift bid.
THIS SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION IS SUBJECT TO MANDATORY DRUG TESTING POLICIES AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.
Minimum Qualifications
Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered.
Necessary Special Requirements
Certification as an ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Mechanic, or pass a mutually agreed upon examination, prior to advancement to Journey Mechanic.
