Job summary

Jefferson County School District 509J Transportation in Madras, Oregon, is seeking a Bus Aide to assist the driver with loading and unloading students and with student management on the school bus.

Starting Aug 31, 2026, this permanent position offers an 8‑hour day, 180 workdays per year, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and optional disability coverage with retirement contributions by JCSD 509-J.

Position Summary
Bus Monitors assist the driver with loading and unloading students and with student management on the school bus.

Education, Experience, and Certification/License (Minimum Qualifications)

• Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described within this job description.
• Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English.
• Ability to obtain a type 10/20 license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as an instructional assistant in a K‑12 environment.
• Experience as a bus aide with SPED students.
• Bilingual Spanish.

Compensation

• Wage Schedule: $19.25–$24.91
• Work days: 180 (10 months)
• Personal days, Sick days
• Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
• Life insurance, AD&D, long‑term disability (optional insurances available)
• JCSD 509‑J pays employee's share (6%) of the Public Employees Retirement System Contribution
