Burner / Torch Operator (Calvert City)

ShearWorx has an immediate opening for an experienced Burner / Torch Operator. The role involves cutting ferrous material with a torch, primarily preparing scrap metal such as steel and aluminum rail cars, to specifications suitable for steel mills.

Responsibilities include:
  • Cutting oversized ferrous materials to commodity specifications
  • Safely and efficiently operating cutting torch equipment
  • Maintaining torch equipment for optimal performance
  • Cleaning and maintaining the work area to prevent fire hazards and ensure safety
  • Handling materials and supplies physically
  • Wearing appropriate PPE at all times
  • Working in all weather conditions
  • Following safety standards and regulations
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing
  • Being a team player committed to the company
  • Knowledge of scrap metal is a plus
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 1 year of torch experience
  • Process-driven and detail-oriented
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations
  • General knowledge of scrap metal manufacturing
  • Ability to lift/move objects over 50 lbs. occasionally
