Position: Wire Buncher Operator
The Wire Buncher Operator is responsible for the setting-up and the operation of the buncher to combine component sub-assemblies into a twisted cable.
Essential Duties:
- Strive to achieve continuous improvement in all activities, processes, and with all projects at Dekoron.
- Understand and follow safety practices and promote safety in all processes and activities.
- Perform quality work without supervision.
- Load payoff(s) using hoist.
- Load with sub-assembly to correspond with lay-up chart.
- Load tapes, binder, and fillers as required on appropriate payoff equipment.
- Set up equipment with proper dies, gear ratios, tensions, payoff angles to perform functions and perform external setups while in operation.
- Operate main equipment and auxiliary equipment to perform functions.
- Maintain manufacturing control system paperwork (line logs, move tickets, etc.).
- Inspect product/samples for quality acceptance and maintain logs, SPC forms, etc. as required.
- Unload completed product using hoist.
- Clean equipment and tools.
- Maintain work area housekeeping and assist in department housekeeping.
- Report unusual conditions, defective material, or equipment to a supervisor in a timely manner.
- Follow correct procedures for Kanban of insulated wire, bare drain wire, and shielding tapes.
- Communicate with other shift operators regarding schedule and/or problems.
- Assist with training of new employees and cross-training of current employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Preferred:
- High School diploma or equivalent, required.
- Technical training, preferred.
- Licenses or certifications are not required for this position.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is preferred, but not required.
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
- Monitoring – watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure a machine is working properly.
- Equipment selection – determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Control Precision – adjust controls of the machine to exact positions.
- Communication – understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Getting information – observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
- Cognitive thinking – problem solving, prioritizing activities, allocating resources, maintaining an adequate supply of materials, making sound decisions, and recommending solutions in troubleshooting and repairing in a timely and effective manner.
- Ability to make quick decisive decisions concerning product and machine adjustments needed to ensure product quality.
- Understand the importance of being exact and accurate.
- Evaluating Information to determine compliance with standards.
- Identifying Objects, Actions, and Events - identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
- Ability to communicate with supervisors, peers, or subordinates by telephone, radio, in written form, email, or in person.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
- Ability to process information to compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, verify information or data.
- Ability to monitor and review information to detect and assess problems.
- Near Vision - ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of observer).
- Far Vision – ability to see details at a distance.
- Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and moving the whole body.
- Spend time using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Wear common protective and safety equipment.
- Lifting of at least 70 pounds.
- Indoors, environmentally controlled.
