Work Hours: Varying shift schedules (Weekdays, Weekends, Holidays, evenings, and holidays as needed). | Class D Driver’s License: Required.
Work Area: Various locations in the Northeast Region.
Overview of Duties
Buildings and Grounds Worker positions are seasonal (April to October, dates may vary). Duties vary by location:
- Park Maintenance: Cleaning, basic infrastructure and equipment upkeep, mowing, and natural resource improvement.
- Park Maintenance & Night Security: Same as park maintenance plus protective security of visitors, property, and resources.
- Trail Maintenance: Maintenance of state trails, public water accesses, fishing piers, and water trails across multiple counties with frequent travel.
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Repairs and maintenance of buildings, trails, and public water access sites, including seasonal activation and deactivation of water systems.
- Grounds maintenance activities: mowing, trimming, weed control, tree and shrub planting, stormwater management, road repairs, trail grooming, and natural resource improvement projects.
- Equipment inspection and maintenance for engines, vehicles, hand tools, and power tools; documentation of use and repairs.
Qualifications
- Ability to manage tasks independently with limited supervision and prioritize safety and customer service.
- Teamwork skills to assist colleagues efficiently and safely.
- Proficiency in safe operation of mowers, weed whips, hand tools, power tools, chainsaws, UTVs, and vehicles.
- Effective communication of policies and procedures to internal and external customers.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve routine maintenance situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or training in:
- Small engine, vehicle, and equipment repair.
- Building maintenance and repair.
- Grounds facility maintenance.
- Security operations.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
Additional Requirements
- Unrestricted Class D Driver’s license with a clean driving record (age 18+).
- Ability to meet physical demands and work in environmental conditions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
