Job summary

Peralta Community College District is seeking a Stationary Engineer to operate, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, pool equipment, electrical, door hardware and lock systems across district facilities. The role requires journey-level experience or an approved Apprenticeship and a valid CA driver’s license.

The successful candidate will inspect, service and repair boilers, chillers, electrical systems, and data cabling, read blueprints, and update logs.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of verifiable journey-level experience in the repair and servicing of heating and air conditioning equipment or completion of a State approved Stationary Engineer Apprenticeship Program.
• Must have a current valid California DMV driver's license and be insurable under Peralta Community College District's automobile policy.
• Possession of the Universal Technician Certificate as required by 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F (a condition of employment for permanent status).
• Understanding of diverse backgrounds of community college students.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains boilers, HVAC, electrical, and related equipment.
• Inspects, services, and repairs building systems including lighting, controls, and plumbing.
• Reads blueprints and interprets technical drawings; updates maintenance logs.
• May order parts under supervision and maintain door hardware and access systems.
