Job summary

The American Rheinmetall facility in Michigan is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform skilled maintenance across carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical work, and safety compliance. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, at least 2 years of building maintenance experience, and a valid Michigan driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of tools, materials, and techniques used in the maintenance and repair of residential and commercial buildings.
• Understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and sanitation standards.
• Skilled in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work, including the use of specialized tools and equipment.
• Ability to safely operate and maintain construction and maintenance equipment.
• Proficient in storing, tracking, and issuing supplies and maintaining accurate records.
• Capable of following verbal and written instructions, setting priorities, and working independently.
• Comfortable using computers and relevant software to support maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance and repair of Rheinmetall leased properties; responds to work order requests and keeps reports and records of completed jobs.
• Performs skilled and semi-skilled labor related to the maintenance, repair, and modification of buildings and facilities; performs minor carpentry, electrical, masonry, janitorial, and plumbing work.
• Performs routine painting of interior surfaces; moves and secures furniture, wall fixtures, equipment, and a variety of floor coverings; determines supplies needs and prepares orders for supplies and materials.
• Ensures cleanliness of the Rheinmetall's interior and exterior premises, cleans windows, cleans and sanitizes spills and debris.
• Modifies and repairs plumbing fixtures, including toilets, sinks, or related elements.
• Completes and maintains safety checklists and safety reports; checks emergency lights, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and other items on the checklist; responds to alarm detection and security breach warnings in buildings.
• Uses and maintains a wide variety of hand, power, and shop tools as well as test equipment related to the work.
