Job summary

East Cleveland City Schools is seeking dedicated, flexible Building Substitute Teachers to cover classrooms when regularly assigned teachers are absent. Substitutes work in the same building each day, supporting students and staff to maintain a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities include following lesson plans, maintaining safety, managing attendance, and collaborating with administrators and teachers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Ohio Substitute Teaching License or Ohio Educator License.
• Current BCI/FBI background checks as required by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a classroom.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and administrators.

Responsibilities

• Report to the assigned school each workday as scheduled.
• Provide classroom instruction in the absence of the regular teacher using lesson plans provided.
• Maintain a safe, orderly, and productive classroom environment.
• Supervise students throughout the instructional day and during assigned duties.
• Follow district curriculum, instructional expectations, and school procedures.
• Maintain accurate attendance and classroom records as required.
• Collaborate professionally with administrators, teachers, and support staff.
• Demonstrate flexibility by covering various grade levels and subject areas as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student and district information.
• Uphold all East Cleveland City School District Board policies and administrative procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal.
