Job summary

Lowell Community Charter Public School is seeking an in-house substitute teacher to support K1-8 classrooms. This full-time role reports to the principals and requires carrying out prepared lesson plans and maintaining a positive, safe learning environment.

You will follow the scheduled plans, collaborate with staff, and ensure student goals are met while upholding district policies and confidentiality. Prior experience with diverse student populations is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university, required.
• MA Department of Education Certification preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Second language or language acquisition background preferred
• Experience working with students from diverse SES backgrounds and cultures, preferred

Responsibilities

• Follow the teacher's written lesson plans
• Create a positive learning environment
• Ensure that the goals of the plans are met
• Consult with the principal and/or staff to resolve questions and/or concerns
• Comply with all building procedures and schedules
• Prepare a written summary of work completed and any special notes
• Implement effective management procedures, maintain high expectations and uphold the student conduct code
• Create a referral for any infractions
• Work cooperatively with other teachers
• Uphold computer technology acceptable use policies.
• Build a working knowledge of the curriculum.
• Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information
• Take precautions to ensure staff/student safety
• Provide appropriate and consistent supervision
• Report evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law
• Supervise non-classroom duties when assigned
• Accepts personal responsibility for decisions and conduct
• Develop appropriate student relationships and serve as a positive role model for others
• Performs other specific job-related duties as directed

JOB GOALS: Carry out the absent teacher's prepared lesson plans and perform all essential functions of a teacher in the classroom.
