Job summary

Applitrack seeks a Building Substitute Teacher to support instructional continuity across a building for the school year. The position runs for 184 calendar days, with a daily rate of $145, reporting to the Building Principal and following established district curricula and safety guidelines.

The substitute will implement daily lesson plans, monitor student behavior, and ensure a positive, respectful classroom environment while maintaining professional appearance and communication with staff,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required.
• Illinois ISBE substitute licensure requirements must be met.

Responsibilities

• Report to the main office on arrival and sign in and out each day.
• Follow the teacher's plans and supervise students as assigned.
• Maintain classroom discipline and implement daily instructional activities.
• Complete attendance, feedback, and daily reports for the teacher.
• Engage students with instruction and adapt to learning needs.
• Follow safety procedures to protect students and property.
• Exhibit professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Function / Position Summary

Building substitutes implement daily student instructional plan in the absence of the classroom teacher, guide the learning process toward the achievement of the District curriculum and goals in an effective manner, ensure a safe classroom environment and proper classroom management, and maintain reasonable rules of conduct encouraging self-discipline and responsibility. Building substitutesserveasapositiverolemodelforstudents,demonstratingprofessionalismthatincludes a positive attitude, positive and respectful communication, and professional appearance. Building substitutes are assigned in one building for the duration of the school year.

Job Duties / Responsibilities

• Reportstothemainofficeuponarrivalforassignmentsandchecksoutinthemain office at the end of the day.
• Adherestothework scheduletoallowenoughtimeforcheckin, reviewof substituteplans, and be prepared for the day when the students enter the classroom.
• Implementstheinstructionalplanspreparedbytheteacherand/orschooladministrator.
• Completesalldutiesoftheteacherincludingsupervisionassignments(i.e.busduty,hall duty, study hall, lunchroom/recess).
• Completesdailyreportsrequiredoftheteacher,includingattendanceandfeedback regarding instruction, discipline, and other events of the day.
• Completesanyadditionalworkasdirectedbyadministrationduringfreeperiods.
• Activelyengageswithstudentsduringassignments,clearlycommunicatesexpectations, andadaptstoindividuallearningneeds,providingindividualandsmallgroupinstruction.
• Followsallnecessaryandreasonablesafetyprecautionstoprotectstudents,equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintainsahighlevelofprofessionalism,integrity,andconfidentialityinregardstoschool,students,parents,orotherstaffmembers.
• Performotherdutiesasassigned.

Education

• Bachelor'sdegreeor higher.
• IllinoisStateBoardofEducationlicensurerequirementsforSubstituteTeacherwhichinclude one of the following (license must be registered in Kane County):
  • ProfessionalEducatorLicense
  • SubstituteTeaching License
