The substitute will report to the main office, adhere to the schedule, carry out teacher plans, supervise duties, and complete attendance and feedback.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required.
• Illinois State Board of Education licensure requirements for Substitute Teacher (Professional Educator License or Substitute Teaching License) in Kane County.

Responsibilities

• Report to the main office upon arrival and check out at end of day.
• Follow the work schedule and review substitute plans.
• Implement instructional plans prepared by teacher/school administrator.
• Complete duties of teacher including supervision assignments.
• Submit daily attendance and feedback on instruction and discipline.
• Perform additional work as directed by administration.
• Engage with students, communicate expectations, and adapt to learning needs.

Function / Position Summary

Building substitutes implement daily student instructional plan in the absence of the classroom teacher, guide the learning process toward the achievement of the District curriculum and goals in an effective manner, ensure a safe classroom environment and proper classroom management, and maintain reasonable rules of conduct encouraging self-discipline and responsibility. Building substitutesserveasapositiverolemodelforstudents,demonstratingprofessionalismthatincludes a positive attitude, positive and respectful communication, and professional appearance. Building substitutes are assigned in one building for the duration of the school year.

Job Duties / Responsibilities

• Reportstothemainofficeuponarrivalforassignmentsandchecksoutinthemain office at the end of the day.


• Adherestothework scheduletoallowenoughtimeforcheckin, reviewof substituteplans, and be prepared for the day when the students enter the classroom.


• Implementstheinstructionalplanspreparedbytheteacherand/orschooladministrator.


• Completesalldutiesoftheteacherincludingsupervisionassignments(i.e.busduty,hall duty, study hall, lunchroom/recess).


• Completesdailyreportsrequiredoftheteacher,includingattendanceandfeedback regarding instruction, discipline, and other events of the day.


• Completesanyadditionalworkasdirectedbyadministrationduringfreeperiods.


• Activelyengageswithstudentsduringassignments,clearlycommunicatesexpectations, andadaptstoindividuallearningneeds,providingindividualandsmallgroupinstruction.


• Followsallnecessaryandreasonablesafetyprecautionstoprotectstudents,equipment, materials, and facilities.


• Maintainsahighlevelofprofessionalism,integrity,andconfidentialityinregardstoschool,students,parents,orotherstaffmembers.
