Summary
  • Assist in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum in the classroom and planning activities as needed to assist the co-teachers.
Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge of children growth and development through implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum that meets the recommended standards to ensure health, safety, and nutrition of children.
  • Meets NAEYC, DPW, and Keystone Star 4 standards for the classrooms.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of recording and maintaining safety regarding children’s allergies, emergency contacts, etc.
  • Identifies health or safety concern that affects the welfare of the children.
  • Provides creative ideas to enhance curriculum regularly.
  • Assumes leadership of classroom and curriculum in absence of co-teacher.
  • Monitors staff/child ratios to ensure proper staffing levels.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in daily routines and schedules with children and staff assignments.
  • Responds effectively to emergency drills and real-life emergencies.
  • Assist in creating a learning environment based on children’s needs, interests, and abilities and one that is reflective of the children’s families and culture.
  • Assists in meeting identified objectives for children with special needs including helping with the implementation of IFSP’s and IEPs.
  • Conserves supplies and restocks classroom appropriately.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in daily schedule and responds to emerging needs of center.
  • Provides creative ideas that enrich the learning environment or curriculum.
  • Networks with other teachers throughout the center to build extended opportunities for learning for the children.
  • Creates a welcoming environment for all children, staff, and families.
  • Partner with families to create an open system of effective communication and assist in making smooth transitions from home to the classroom and to demonstrate professional practices in all aspects of work.
  • Manages time effectively to meet deadlines and complete tasks on time.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Anticipates the needs of others and meets those needs promptly; provides quick and effective responses to customer complaints.
  • Conducts self in a respectful and professional manner through all interactions including listening, acknowledging others’ opinions and diverting gossip.
  • Maintains the integrity of all confidential information.
  • Manages time effectively and positively.
  • Is able to give and to receive feedback.

  • Use various techniques to observe children and record their work to share with co-teachers.
  • Through observation and interactions with the children record for co-teachers' important information about the children.
  • Using checklists, anecdotal notes, running records, and/or frequency counts to record a child’s behavior, interests, needs, etc.
  • Complete professional development plan annually with supervisor and maintain credentialing required by Keystone Stars, NAEYC, and DPW.
  • Supports hospital and center goals. Meets personal goals set with supervisor.
  • Meets all required training hours for DPW, NAEYC, and Keystone Stars 4.
  • Maintains Professional Development Record and own training records as required.
  • Is a member of an education professional organization.
  • Completes credit hours towards an ECE degree, associate's degree, or CDA as required.
  • Completes 24 hours of training annually.
  • Willingly participates in Children’s Village functions and assists with supervision of volunteers and mentoring of new associates. Is a collaborative team member and supports fund raisers and family events at C. V.
  • Participates in fundraising activities as able to.
  • Picks up time and willingly serves as needed.
  • Attends all staff meetings and special events.
  • Participates and assists in delivering special events at Children’s Village.
  • Serves as a mentor for new staff.
  • Is a collaborative team member.
  • Is a morale builder or role model.

Education or Equivalent Experience.
