MSU Careers Recent Jobs is seeking a Male Team Member for cleaning duties at Mary Mayo Hall. This role involves cleaning various areas including bathrooms, dining rooms, and offices. The ideal candidate must possess a casual knowledge of cleaning methods and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Work schedule includes weekends and immediate reporting in emergencies. The role is essential for maintaining cleanliness and supports the university community during operations.
Male Team Member performs regularly scheduled cleaning duties in areas such as bathrooms, halls, stairways, lobbies, dining rooms, apartments, student rooms, study lounges, pressing rooms, offices, and inside entrance ways.
Dust mops, operate vacuums, or sweep floor areas.
Wet mop lavatories, bathrooms, and shower areas with lightweight mop.
Wash window glass, casings, tracks, ledges, and Venetian blinds.
Makes beds and tidies bedrooms.
Handles, counts, and mends linens.
Spot wash walls to remove splash marks around sinks and fingerprints from light switches.
Shampoo and clean upholstery on chairs and sofas.
Re- supplies toilet tissue, towels, and similar items in restrooms, showers, and locker rooms.
Empty and clean wastepaper baskets and cigarette ash receptacles.
Dust furniture, office equipment, and surfaces subject to dust accumulation.
Cleans chalkboards and erasers.
Turns in lost and found articles to Supervisor.
Cleans and clears trash from building entrances, sweeps or shovels snow from building entrances, and empties ash urns at building entrances.
Reports damage, malfunction, or irregularities of the building or equipment to Supervisor.
Cleans and replaces cleaning equipment and supplies at end of work period.

All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Experience as a team member in housekeeping and bathroom sanitation; dynamic self-starter who demonstrates a work orientation towards "delivering outstanding Spartan experiences", customer service, problem solving, organization, taking initiative, leadership, working as part of a team, and learning for continuous development; ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions.
