The Building Permit Technician is responsible for providing administrative and technical support for the building permit and inspection process. This position serves as a primary point of contact for contractors, property owners, developers, design professionals, and the public regarding building permits, plan reviews, inspections, and applicable codes and regulations.
The Permit Technician reviews permit applications and supporting documentation for completeness, processes permits, maintains accurate records, calculates applicable fees, and provides information regarding permitting requirements and procedures.

Physical Activity & Work Environment
The position is primarily office-based and involves frequent computer use, telephone communication, document review, filing, and interaction with the public. Occasional visits to construction sites or other municipal facilities may be required. All Lake County Employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker when a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of County Commissioners. To be prepared for this role, all employees and emergency service function (ESF) leads will attend emergency management trainings and exercises as requested by the Director of Emergency Management. With advanced notification from OEM, employees will make reasonable efforts to attend training events in coordination with other employees and supervisors.
