Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform assignments and duties as directed by the building principal.
  • Assist in supervising recess.
  • Assist teachers with students as assigned by the principal.
  • Handle basic clerical duties, answer phones, copy forms and maintain records.
  • Maintain student behavior using school protocols and guidelines.
  • Enforce school policies with students.
  • Provide extra assistance to students with special needs.
  • Assist in supervision duties as assigned by the principal.
  • Assist the library staff as needed by the principal.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff and the school community.
  • Produce accurate work despite interruptions and multitask effectively.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity in all duties.

Job description

Position Title: BuildingParaprofessional

Reports To: Building Principal/Assistant Principal/Superintendent

Summary: The Building Paraprofessional performs a variety of computer, clerical, library, classroom and building duties to support building functions. The Building Paraprofessional provides general information and assistance to students and staff.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Performs all assignments and duties given by the building principal throughout the year.
  2. Assists in supervisingrecess.
  3. Assists teachers with students when assigned by the building principal.
  4. Performs basic clerical duties, such as assisting the public, answer the office phone, make copies, take messages, and/or copy and maintain various forms as needed.
  5. Manages student behavior in a constructive manner using the behavior protocols used by the building.
  6. Enforces school policies with the students.
  7. Provides extra assistance to students with special needs.
  8. Assists in supervision duties as assigned by the principal.
  9. Assists the librarian as assigned by the principal.
  10. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff and the school community.
  11. Can produce accurate work with frequent interruptions and perform several tasks simultaneously.
  12. Maintains confidentiality, and unquestionable integrity.
  13. Complete other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Substitute Certificate issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education or eligible to obtain a Substiute Certificate
  3. Excellent communication, organization and computer skills.

Must possess strong, positive interpersonal skills including communication, ability to work with a group on problem solving, listening skills, positive attitude and deportment.
Language Skills

Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret documents, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations.

Mathematical Skills

Performs routine computations requiring a knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and/or percentages.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and understand. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit. The employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel and reach as well as to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, twist, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Regular attendance on the job is expected.

Terms of Employment:

Terms covering compensation, benefits, and working conditions are specified by the Board of Education’s policies, agreements and approvals. This is a nine-month position.
