Job summary

SAFEbuilt is seeking a Building Official/Working Inspection Manager to lead building department activities in the United States. This role involves enforcing code compliance, reviewing plans for commercial and residential projects, and supervising staff to deliver high-quality customer service to communities.

The candidate will need ICC certifications (CBO and inspector/plan examiner) and a valid driver’s license, with strong MS Office skills and excellent communication.

We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Building Official/Working Inspection Manager to join our team of professionals. This position offers great opportunity for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of work assignments. You’ll be a member of our highly respected team of professionals with a full complement of resources to support you and exciting projects to keep you challenged.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for meeting all state and locally mandated code compliance and reporting requirements.
• Apply knowledge of building codes, policies, and procedures to the day-to-day functions of the building department.
• Serve as the primary liaison with our clients in this area and is responsible for ensuring that we deliver the highest level of customer service
• Responsible for attending department and community meetings as required by the client.
• Perform some plan reviews both commercial and residential in all trades.
• Perform inspection support as needed.
• Supervise building department staff.

Knowledge & Skills

• Be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of local building code regulations, policies and procedures
• Client and team management experience in a building department setting
• Have solid computer skills and experience using MS Office programs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Exercise initiative and display independent judgment
• Be self-directed and self-motivated

Education & Experience

• Inspection and Plan review experience for commercial and residential structures.
• ICC Certified Building Official (CBO) certification required.
• ICC Commercial Building Inspector and/or Commercial Building Plans Examiner certification strongly preferred.
• ICC Residential Building Inspector and/or Residential Plans Examiner certification strongly preferred.
• Additional ICC certifications in mechanical, plumbing, accessibility, property maintenance, or energy are a plus.
• Valid driver’s license required.

COMPENSATION:

Competitive salary and strong benefit package including company vehicle.

SALARY:

$95,000-115,000 annually
