Job summary

Aoka is seeking a Certified Building Official (CBO) to lead a team of building inspectors and serve as a subject matter expert for our sales team — making an impact on construction quality, safety, and code enforcement across the Dallas–Fort Worth area.

In this full-time role you will supervise inspection programs, administer and enforce building codes, oversee permits and reports, and collaborate with multiple departments to drive coordinated code enforcement and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• ICC Certified Building Official (CBO) required.
• Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in building inspection.
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise building inspectors and manage inspection programs.
• Serve as a subject matter expert supporting the sales team.
• Conduct client visits as needed for complex or escalated projects.
• Administer and enforce municipal, state, and federal building codes, safety, energy, and accessibility standards.
• Oversee issuance of building permits, plan approvals, occupancy certificates, and inspection reports.
• Interpret complex codes and provide guidance to architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners.
• Collaborate with fire, planning, zoning, engineering, and public works departments for coordinated code enforcement.
• Manage appeals, code updates, and ordinance revisions.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on inspections, permitting, and code compliance.
