Summary of Job Duties: The Building Manager is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of multiple UAMS buildings, ensuring facility safety, functionality, space integrity, and regulatory compliance. As a key member of the Department of Public Safety, the Building Manager supports a wide range of facility and space management activities, providing a high level of customer service while collaborating closely with stakeholders across UAMS. This includes serving as a liaison to Engineering & Operations, Planning Design & Construction, Environmental Services, Occupational Health & Safety, and Security Support Services.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in facility operations, safety, business, or related field.
  • 1 year of experience in building, facility, space management, or related.
  • Familiarity with regulatory codes and compliance standards (NFPA, Joint Commission, CMS, ADH, DFA).
  • Working knowledge of space use standards (NCES, FICM).
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and facility management platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare or academic settings.
  • Knowledge of move coordination and furniture reallocation processes.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, CAFM, or space management systems.
  • Understanding of security and access control protocols.


Additional Information:

  • They conduct environmental and safety rounds, oversee building conditions, support space planning initiatives, and track work orders and improvements through established platforms.
  • They also assist with moves and reconfigurations, guide building occupants in making space requests in accordance with NCES and FICM coding standards, and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies including NFPA, Joint Commission, CMS, Arkansas Department of Health, and FA survey practices.
  • Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, maintains confidentiality, and supports coworkers and departments through collaborative relationships.
  • Upholds UAMS Values and the Basic Code of Conduct.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
