JOB GOALS:Responsible for the overall safe, efficient, and economical operation and maintenance of the school building and grounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Other custodial personnel assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
As a minimum – high school diploma or GED; maintenance or custodial experience; knowledge and basic skills in the area of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating, cooling and general maintenance procedures. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders. Must have management and organizational abilities; good judgment, concern for orderliness and detail. A pleasant personality is a must, ability to work with people; good work habits; positive attitude, loyalty and well-kept appearance. Must be able to pass a post offer, pre-hire employment physical. Must also be able to ascend heights up to 35 feet for duties such as changing light bulbs and cleaning.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid state driver’s license – operator permit.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information.
MATHEMATICAL SKILL:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve-month position. Salary and benefits as per Classified Policy. Forty hours per week. Additional hours per the request and approval of the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
EVALUATION:
To be conducted by, or under the direction of, the Director of Buildings and Grounds and the Building Principal, utilizing a format of their choice accordance with Board policy and administrative guidelines.
