This mid-level maintenance position involves performing various general maintenance duties to ensure the efficient operation, proper repair, cleanliness, and safety of the County’s facilities for public use. Responsibilities are carried out within the buildings managed by Facilities Maintenance.

Responsibilities include:

1. Plumbing

• Repair, rebuild, or replace faucets, flush valves, shut-off stops, disposal units, and drain lines.
• Unclog drains and waste lines using handheld equipment or sewer machine equipment.
• Repair lawn irrigation piping.
• Remove and replace toilets and urinals.

Electrical

• Change lamps and bulbs.
• Convert light fixtures to LED.
• Assist electricians.

Perform carpentry work in repairing County buildings and furniture.

Remove, replace, and repair pneumatic, electronic, and mechanical locks; disassemble, install, and repair locks.

Paint rooms, hallways, and ceilings; patch holes; prime areas for painting.

Drive trucks and operate equipment for loading trucks.

Remove and replace ceiling tiles.

Perform related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Two to five years of building maintenance experience. This position requires a valid Kansas driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance, per Sedgwick County policy.
