Job summary

Salvation Army Nashville is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to perform routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles, and to carry out groundskeeping to maintain the property's appearance. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of maintenance experience, a valid state driver’s license, and the ability to lift heavy objects and work outdoors in various weather.

Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience performing maintenance work in a general maintenance environment; OR Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine building maintenance and repairs.
• Perform minor plumbing repairs, including repairing leaking faucets and unclogging toilets.
• Perform minor carpentry repairs, including repairing dents and holes in walls and painting walls.
• Perform preventative maintenance on Salvation Army vehicles and monitor and replenish fluid levels.
• Sweep, vacuum, strip, mop, and wax floors; sweep sidewalks and other assigned areas.
• Assemble, disassemble, and move office furniture, including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, and other furnishings.
• Maintain assigned tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Perform routine grounds-keeping and outdoor maintenance as assigned.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures, policies, and regulations.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles. The position also performs routine groundskeeping to maintain the appearance and beautification of the property, as well as minor plumbing and carpentry repairs.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to perform strenuous and heavy work, including lifting and carrying heavy objects.
• Ability to use and maintain maintenance equipment, tools, and machinery effectively and safely.
• Ability to maintain driving eligibility in accordance with State, DOT, and Salvation Army policies, procedures, and certification requirements.
• Position requires regular driving of a vehicle.
• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and may involve daily exposure to weather conditions, including rain, cold, snow, and heat.
• May be exposed to physical discomfort associated with noise, dust, dirt, and other environmental conditions.
