Job summary

AKAM is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician in West Palm Beach, FL. The role is full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm, focusing on groundskeeping and basic building upkeep to ensure safety, functionality, and appearance throughout the community.

The candidate will perform routine maintenance, operate and maintain equipment, respond to work orders, and support events as needed. A valid driver's license and high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in residential maintenance or handyman services (HOA, multifamily, or large property experience preferred).
• Working knowledge of cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and light pressure cleaning in commercial facilities.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely; must provide own general tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on ladders, such as cleaning fans, gutters, and AC vents.
• Inspect property regularly and address maintenance issues proactively.
• Maintain and repair equipment in common areas (lobbies, hallways, laundry rooms, recreation areas, pools, exteriors).
• Respond to work orders and service requests promptly and professionally.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and HOA codes.
• Update maintenance logs and inventory records.
• Set up and break down for events or board meetings as needed.
• Paint and maintain community areas as directed.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a background in groundskeeping and basic building maintenance. You will be responsible for ensuring the property is maintained to high standards of functionality, safety, and appearance. This is a fulltime role, working Mon thru Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance on ladders, such as cleaning of fans, gutters, and AC Vents
• Experience in changing out, or installing new locksets, with OTC hardware
• Inspect property regularly to identify and address maintenance issues proactively.
• Maintain and repair equipment in common areas such as lobbies, hallways, laundry rooms, recreation areas, pools, and exterior grounds.
• Respond to work orders and service requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and HOA codes.
• Clean all trash receptacles inside buildings, and around the community at designated stations.
• Update maintenance logs and inventory records
• Set up and break down for community events or board meetings if required.
• Paint and maintain areas within the community as directed
• Provide emergency on-call support on a rotating basis (as applicable).

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in residential maintenance or handyman services (HOA, multifamily, or large property experience preferred).
• Working knowledge or experience cleaning, sweeping, mopping, periodic light pressure cleaning, preferable in a commercial facility.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively. Must provide own general tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer proficiency
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Valid driver’s license

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
• Frequent walking, standing, climbing ladders, and exposure to indoor/outdoor conditions.
