Work Schedule:Sunday - Thursday, 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM

The City of Creve Coeur is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual for the position of Building Maintenance Technician - Ice Arena. This full-time, non-exempt position serves as the facility employee who focuses on janitorial, maintenance, and ice cut responsibilities for the Dielmann Recreation Complex and indoor Ice Arena located at 11400 Olde Cabin Road, Creve Coeur, MO.

Essential Functions:

• Cleans and completes room set-ups and tear-downs at the Dielmann Recreation Complex on a regular basis. Areas include ice and golf restrooms, the Ice Arena lobby, meeting rooms, ice locker rooms, and related areas. All basic janitorial principles apply to these areas, including, but not limited to, the use of vacuum, powerscrubber, and proper chemical usage. (25%)
• Ice maintenance: cuts and edges ice surface, keeps ice at level for optimum efficiency. (25%)
• Performs general repairs (electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry) as needed in and around the facility. Checks buildings for wear and tear and ensures plumbing fixtures are working properly. (25%)
• Demonstrates a commitment to his/her public duty and presents oneself as a credible and knowledgeable representative of the city to maintain public trust. Builds and maintains positive relationships while serving all internal and external customers. Actively listens and provides prompt assistance to others and treats others with dignity and respect. (15%)
• Completes maintenance checklist: indicates on checklist what needs attention and writes out any needed repairs in order to ensure a safe and well-maintained Recreation Complex. This includes, but is not limited to, all rooms and parking lots, trash area, and green space. (10%)

Requirements:

Graduation from high school or equivalent. One or more years of equivalent or related experience is preferred. Basic computer skills are required to send/receive emails, complete maintenance checklists, and write memorandums. Ability to perform general maintenance skills (carpentry, electrical, painting, and plumbing). Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Able to follow oral and written instructions. Can effectively organize and prioritize work. Ability to work independently. Able to learn the methods and practices used in ice arena maintenance. Have mathematical skills necessary to purchase supplies. Have the strength and dexterity to operate various hand and power tools. Able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds for short distances. Must have good hand-eye coordination. Must be able to work in extreme climate conditions. Able to stoop, bend, climb, and crawl, kneel, push, pull, sit, and stand as needed to adequately maintain the Dielmann Recreation Complex, Ice Arena, and meeting rooms.
