  • Paint walls, doors, and floors as needed.
  • Learn/build BAS, fire/safety, HVAC, and power systems for safe operation.
  • Maintain building appearance and cleanliness; assist tenants and guests.

BUILDING MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I

The Building Maintenance Technician I is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of commercial facilities by performing routine maintenance, inspections, repairs, and general building upkeep. This role completes preventive maintenance activities, responds to service requests, and performs basic repairs to building systems, equipment, and interior and exterior building components. The technician provides excellent customer service to tenants and visitors while maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment. Working under the guidance of experienced team members, this position also develops foundational knowledge of building automation, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, fire and life safety, and critical power systems to support the long-term performance and reliability of the facility.

QALIFICATIONS
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical skills
  • Knowledge of general maintenance and routine repairs
  • Knowledge of safe operating and maintenance of small to medium machinery
  • Valid Driver’s License and good driving record per McGough Fleet Policy
Preferred
  • Post-secondary education in building maintenance and / or HVAC systems
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other code and safety standards
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and building management systems
  • HVAC system preventive maintenance skills

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Building Maintenance & Repairs
  • Perform inspections and repairs to the facility's interior and exterior, including walls, flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, and lighting.
  • Complete assigned work requests and preventive maintenance tasks to maintain building equipment and infrastructure.
  • Perform minor repairs and adjustments to drawers, doors, and door hardware, including key and lock maintenance after training.
  • Repair minor plumbing issues in restrooms, drinking fountains, and kitchen areas.
  • Conduct minor painting tasks, including painting doors, door frames, concrete floors, walls, and sheetrock surfaces.
Preventive Maintenance & Building Systems
  • Perform basic inspections and maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure reliable performance.
  • Learn and perform routine and entry-level tasks associated with building automation systems (BAS), fire and life safety systems, HVAC systems, critical power systems, and other building equipment to support safe and efficient facility operations.
Facility Appearance & Housekeeping
  • Perform cleaning and housekeeping tasks as assigned, including maintaining the building perimeter, emptying trash receptacles, and supporting general site cleanliness.
Customer Service & Tenant Support
  • Provide responsive, professional customer service and support to clients, tenants, and building guests by addressing maintenance requests in a timely manner.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain good housekeeping practices to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Identify potential hazards and recommend solutions to reduce or eliminate safety risks.
  • Assist other Maintenance Technicians and Building Engineers as needed to support building operations and equipment maintenance.
Other Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal teams, contractors and other stakeholders to align risk management efforts. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned
WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL

Daily travel between multiple managed properties is required. This position is provided with a vehicle and the necessary tools to travel to client sites to perform services.

The employee frequently is required to stand; talk or hear; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Employee will be required to visit sites which may expose the employee to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions and extreme temperatures.

In alignment with our commitment to pay transparency, the hourly base salary range for this position is $23-28 per hour, excluding fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you join McGough, your final base salary will be determined by several factors, including geography, location, skills, education, and experience. Furthermore, we place significant value on pay equity among our current team members as part of any final job offer.

Please note that the range provided above reflects the hiring range for this role. Hiring near the top end of this range would be atypical, as we aim to allow room for future salary growth. Additionally, McGough offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package. This includes insurance coverage for medical, dental, vision, life, and disability.
