Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a healthcare facilities maintenance professional to support the Engineering and Maintenance Department, including admin duties and lead maintenance tasks.

You will manage parts inventory, execute repairs and preventive maintenance, and coordinate with managers on building materials and installations, while documenting work orders and reporting progress daily.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; vocational training preferred.
• Experience: 2 years progressive maintenance in a healthcare facility.

Responsibilities

• Maintains inventory of repair parts for patient transport equipment, patient TVs, patient-related furniture and other materials.
• Maintains equipment and performs repair or preventive maintenance as needed.
• Coordinates with department managers for selection and installation of materials and items.
• Completes and documents maintenance work orders daily.
• Provides general renovation and installation services (partitions, ceilings, floors).
• Maintains inventory, repairs patient TVs and related equipment.
• Supports Assistant Director with minor contracts and equipment installations.
• Performs general building repairs (doors, windows, floors).
• Installs shelves, cabinets and carpentry items.
• Completes paperwork, requisitions, logs and daily reports.

Job description

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, Plant Operations, you will provide a variety of administrative and lead maintenance functions for the Engineering and Maintenance Department and coordinate special projects as assigned.

Work Schedule

12‑hour shift: 7:00 AM‑7:30 PM. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday (one week); Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (next week).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains inventory of repair parts for patient transport equipment, patient TVs, patient‑related furniture and other building materials. Reports inventory to Maintenance Lead.
• Maintains equipment as needed.
• Works in conjunction with department managers, ensuring proper selection and installation of preferred building materials and other specialty items.
• Completes and documents maintenance work order assignments on a daily basis.
• Performs repair/preventive maintenance as needed or assigned.
• Provides general renovation and installation services, repairing partitions, ceilings, and floors.
• Maintains parts inventory and repairs patient TVs, patient transport equipment, exam room tables, patient room furnishings, pneumatic tube system equipment, blood pressure equipment, etc.
• Provides support to the Assistant Director as needed, arranging minor contract repairs and equipment installations.
• Performs general building repairs of partitions, doors, windows, floors, etc. in a neat workmanlike manner.
• Installs shelves, cabinets, and other small carpentry items in a neat, workmanlike manner.
• Completes required paperwork in a neat and timely manner, including work orders, requisitions, logs, and daily reports.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED). Vocational/trade school courses preferred.
• Licensure, Certification, Registration: None required.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Working knowledge of building repairs, i.e., carpentry, flooring, Hilti fire‑stopping techniques, TV cable repair.
• Familiar with computer use for equipment/data material search.
• Familiar with mechanical systems preferred.

Experience: 2 years progressive experience in general building maintenance in a healthcare facility.

Pay Range

$29.00 – $39.03. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
