North Seattle College is looking to hire an HVAC Technician in the Facilities Department.

Salary Range for this position is $55,572 - $72,864 (DOE).

The position is open until filled, with an initial review of application materials beginning on Monday, May 26th, 2025.

Position Summary

If you seek a stable job with excellent benefits and have substantial HVAC and steam systems experience, consider joining our team. As an HVAC Technician, you will maintain campus facilities, perform diagnostic testing, repairs, and maintenance of HVAC, refrigeration, and steam systems, supporting a safe and healthy learning environment.

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with WFSE.

What You Will Be Working On
  • Installation, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of HVAC, refrigeration, and steam systems
  • Inspection and repair of plumbing, heating, cooling, and fire systems
  • Maintenance of control systems with sensors and actuators; blueprint reading
  • Monitoring and adjusting building climate control systems
  • Using testing instruments and maintaining records
  • Using various hand and power tools
  • Estimating, ordering materials, managing inventories
  • Leading and instructing helpers or inmates
  • Welding and surface preparation
  • Interpreting blueprints and using building control systems
  • Performing HVAC maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs
  • Installing HVAC components
  • Ensuring safety, efficiency, professionalism
  • Providing excellent customer service and effective communication
  • Willingness to learn Microsoft Office and Outlook

This role requires teamwork, contributing beyond listed responsibilities.

What You Bring As a Candidate
  • At least 5 years of HVAC experience, including diagnostic testing, repair, and maintenance
  • Journey-level HVAC mechanic or steamfitter, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of HVAC practices, safety, and system principles
  • Preferred: gas mechanic certification, Level 4 Boiler license, BAT license
Physical Requirements
  • Moderate physical effort, including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Full body exertion required frequently
  • Indoor/outdoor work with weather exposure
