Job summary

M. J. Electric, LLC is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep of facilities and grounds with a focus on quality construction practices. The role covers routine cleaning, seasonal grounds work, and basic facility tasks in a safety-conscious setting.

You will assist with minor repairs, operate common maintenance equipment, and collaborate with senior staff on larger projects, ensuring spaces remain organized and well-maintained.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 0–1 years of grounds maintenance experience preferred.
• Physically capable in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to assist with snow removal in winter.
• Safely operate basic grounds & maintenance equipment.
• Reliable with strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions.
• Able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Good visual inspection for maintenance or safety concerns.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and organization of buildings and outdoor areas.
• Support seasonal grounds maintenance, including snow/ice removal, leaves, debris, and lawn upkeep.
• Assist with basic facility maintenance tasks such as minor repairs and general labor.
• Move furniture or materials within the facility.
• Assist senior maintenance staff with larger projects and preventative maintenance.
• Operate basic equipment and tools used for grounds and facility maintenance.
• Perform routine inspection and cleaning of grounds and maintenance equipment.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and workspaces are clean, organized, and in safe condition.
• Follow established safety guidelines and work procedures.
• Support warehouse or yard activities including material handling.

About this Role – Building Maintenance Technician

We are looking for a talented Building Maintenance Technician who has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for supporting maintenance and the repair of facilities and grounds.

What You’ll Do

• Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and organization of buildings and outdoor areas
• Support seasonal grounds maintenance, including:
  • Snow and ice removal from sidewalks, entrances, parking areas, and access points
  • Removal of leaves, debris, and litter
  • General lawn, landscape, and grounds upkeep
• Assist with basic facility maintenance tasks such as:
  • Minor repairs and replacements
  • General labor related to building upkeep
  • Moving furniture or materials within the facility
• Assist senior maintenance staff with larger projects and preventative maintenance activities
• Operate basic equipment and tools used for grounds and facility maintenance (e.g., snow removal equipment, front end loader, forklift, mowers, hand tools, pickup trucks)
• Perform routine inspection and cleaning of grounds and maintenance equipment
• Ensure tools, equipment, and workspaces are kept clean, organized, and in safe working condition
• Follow established safety guidelines, maintenance schedules, and work procedures
• Support warehouse or yard activities assigned, including material handling and site organization

What You’ll Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 0-1 years of experience in grounds maintenance, general labor, facilities support, or a related field preferred
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
• Willingness and ability to assist with snow removal during winter conditions and leaf/debris cleanup during seasonal changes
• Ability to safely operate basic grounds and maintenance equipment (or willingness to be trained)
• Demonstrated reliability, strong work ethic, and ability to follow instructions
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Visual acuity to identify basic maintenance or safety concerns on buildings and grounds
