This journeyman-level maintenance position is responsible for performing corrective maintenance and repairs on buildings and facilities across the Medical University of South Carolina during both peak and non-peak hours. Duties include using hand and power tools to complete a wide range of repairs, from minor fixes to extensive maintenance, within assigned zones. Work is performed according to established trade practices and under the direction of the Hospital Help Desk, FSC, Maintenance Manager, or Supervisor, with assignments subject to inspection and review. Limited supervision may be provided for new or complex tasks. This position is designated as Essential Personnel and is required to respond during disaster situations.

Work involves the use of power and hand tools in maintaining specific zone assignments which covers a variety of corrective maintenance and repairs ranging from minor to extensive. All work is performed in accordance with instructions and established trade practices. Occasional monitoring or supervision may be necessary when new assignments are given. All work assignments will originate from the Hospital Help Desk, FSC, Maintenance Manager or Supervisor and subject to supervision and inspection by same or assigned subordinate. Considered Essential Personnel in a disaster situation.
