Job summary

Signature Health, Inc. in Ohio is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician to perform routine maintenance, basic repairs, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and equipment moves to ensure a safe, orderly environment for staff and patients.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will handle preventive maintenance, document work orders, respond to facility emergencies, and support setup for meetings and events. A High School diploma and a valid Ohio driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in routine facilities maintenance.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license required.
  • Knowledge and use of power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine building maintenance tasks including basic repairs, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and moving furniture/equipment.
  • Ensure an orderly and safe working environment for staff and patients.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and keep proper documentation of work orders.
  • Attend to facility emergencies under direction of the Director.
  • Assist with setup/breakdown of rooms for meetings, conferences, events.

SCOPE OF ROLE

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor the Building Maintenance Technician will be relied on to complete a variety of routine building maintenance duties including basic facility repairs, plumbing, painting, carpentry, moving furniture or equipment, preventative maintenance and more. You will be successful in your role by ensuring an orderly and safe working environment for all employees and patients at Signature Health.

HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED

  • May be required to work at various Signature Health locations as scheduled by your Director in situations of critical need.
  • Create a safe and secure work environment for all staff and patients by opening and closing building, performing building walk through and setting alarm.
  • Perform basic carpentry, plumbing, handyman and other routine maintenance tasks.
  • Perform various facility repairs, move furniture/equipment as necessary.
  • Perform preventative maintenance/inspections and keep proper documentation.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team player.
  • Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies.
  • Perform cleaning and related maintenance activities such as clearing walkways and removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs in areas within sixteen feet of buildings using hand-operated tools or small power equipment.
  • Attend to all facility related emergencies under the direction of the Director.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of rooms for meetings, conferences, events, etc.
  • Maintain positive relationships with outside vendors and contract labor.
  • Maintain a high level of organization of the maintenance storage areas and proper record keeping of all maintenance logs and work orders.
  • Take classes as required in facilities maintenance methods and techniques, new products, First Aid, CPR, and others.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in routine facilities maintenance with demonstrated knowledge of repair techniques, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry and painting skills required.
  • Valid unencumbered Ohio driver’s license and proof of driver’s insurance required.
  • Knowledge and use of power tools.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed both interior and exterior with exterior climates to vary from extremely hot to extremely cold depending on the season clinical. Interior work is typical of either an office or clinical environment.
  • While hours of operation are generally standard, flexibility to work evenings/weekends and extended hours may be required.
  • Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work.
  • Hearing: adequate to hear clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
  • Speaking: adequate to speak to clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
  • Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
  • Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds, unassisted.
  • Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular workday.
  • Sufficient dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment.
  • Position requires some evening or weekend hours.
