American Electric Power (AEP) seeks an on-site technician to perform skilled maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical building systems at our Corpus Christi facility. The role includes troubleshooting, repair, installation, and supporting site improvements, with responsibilities spanning building trades and safety compliance.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year experience in HVAC or related trades and hold an HVAC license or CFC certification, with a willingness to pursue required

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year relevant experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry is preferred.
• HVAC license or CFC refrigerant certification preferred; willingness to pursue certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive/predictive maintenance on HVAC, emergency generators, and building systems.
• Repair, install, operate, and troubleshoot building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment.
• Perform general building maintenance including drywall, painting, roofing, and related tasks.
• Monitor and supervise contractors to ensure compliance with terms and safety rules.
• Maintain records and submit inspection reports as required.

Job Posting End Date08-25-2026Please note the job posting will close on the day before the posting end dateJob SummaryUnder general supervision perform skilled work involving the operation, maintenance, repair, alteration and additions to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical building systems, building furnishings and site improvements..Job DescriptionWhat You'll Do:Assist in performing preventative/predictive maintenance on, troubleshooting, repairing, installing and operating various types of HVAC-related equipment, emergency generators, and general building mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in accordance with industry standards and mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building codes.Perform general building maintenance and repair related to drywall, masonry, painting, ceilings, roofing, tile, carpets, windows and other related items.Monitor the work of and/or assist others, including contractors, engaged in maintenance, construction and operation activities. Ensure work is completed in compliance with contract terms and conditions and in accordance with company safety, security, environmental and conduct rules.Perform general housekeeping duties as required, such as, assemble, move, repair, hang and adjust furniture, wall hangings, doors, windows and other office items, assist in snow removal, storm damage cleanup, lawn maintenance, spill cleanup, inventory management.Procure necessary quality parts and material in the most economical and accepted manner, with guidance from supervisor.Maintain records, including inspection documentation, and submit reports as required.What You'll Need:Education requirements are listed below:High school diploma or GED required.Work Experience requirement listed below:Minimum one (1) year relevant experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry.Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below:Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers' license.This job requires "recommended" test results from HireVue General Virtual Job Tryout.
