Job summary

Colliers in Milwaukee seeks a Building Maintenance Engineer to maintain overall facility condition. This hands-on role requires a practical mindset, independence, and 3–5 years of maintenance experience with mechanical, plumbing, and electrical familiarity.

You will troubleshoot and service building systems, operate fire/life-safety equipment, manage on-call rotations, and use building automation systems via smartphones and tablets.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in building maintenance.
• Comfortable using smartphones/tablets for work orders.
• Knowledge of general maintenance methods and processes.
• Working knowledge of tools, appliances, and common devices.
• Strong manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.
• Good physical condition; ability to lift up to 50 lbs, outdoor work, and long periods of standing.
• Willingness to work overtime and participate in on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building systems and equipment.
• Service pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic devices.
• Assist with installation and modification of building equipment and systems.
• Replace and repair building finishes such as ceiling tiles, door hardware, wallpaper, and paint.
• Evaluate maintenance operations and recommend upgrades or cost-saving measures.
• Safely operate tools and equipment used in facility maintenance.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and service requests.
• Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe conditions and preventive maintenance needs.
• Maintain and operate fire and life safety systems, including fire alarms and related equipment.
• Use technology effectively, including smartphones, tablets, computers, web-based applications, and building automation systems.

A Building Engineer is a hands‑on professional with a practical mindset and strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate works independently and responsibly, with a minimum of three years of maintenance experience and a solid understanding of mechanical systems, general plumbing, and electrical knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building systems and equipment
