Job summary

Unspecified Senior Living Facility is seeking a Building Maintenance worker to uphold, repair, and maintain buildings, facilities, equipment, and systems. Responsibilities include cleaning, minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and assisting with larger projects.

Ideal candidates have manual dexterity, physical stamina, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. Prior maintenance experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to diagnose issues and determine repairs.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
  • Understanding of basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Previous experience in building maintenance or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • General maintenance and repairs of buildings, facilities, equipment, and systems.
  • Cleaning of floors, windows, trash, and communal areas.
  • Minor repairs including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
  • Preventative maintenance to extend equipment life.
  • Operate tools and equipment like floor scrubbers and lawnmowers.
  • Inventory management of supplies and organizing workspace.
  • Assist with larger repairs with skilled tradespeople.
  • Groundskeeping of lawns and outdoor spaces, including snow removal.
  • Ensure safety and report hazards.
  • Document maintenance activities, work orders, and inspections.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Building Maintenance Position

This position is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and general maintenance of buildings, facilities, equipment, and systems. This includes tasks such as cleaning, minor repairs (electrical, plumbing, and carpentry), and preventative maintenance to ensure everything is in good working order and safe. Also responsible for operating and maintaining various tools and equipment, managing inventory of supplies, and assisting with larger repair projects as needed.

General Maintenance and Repairs:
Cleaning:
  • Sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, cleaning windows, emptying trash, and maintaining the general cleanliness of the communal areas of the facility.
Minor Repairs:
  • Fixing leaks, repairing doors and windows, replacing light bulbs and fuses, patching drywall, painting, and basic plumbing and electrical work.
Preventative Maintenance:
  • Regularly inspecting and servicing equipment, HVAC systems, and other building systems to prevent breakdowns and extend their lifespan.
Equipment Operation:
  • Operating tools and machinery like floor scrubbers, power washers, lawnmowers, and other equipment used in facility maintenance.
Inventory Management:
  • Keeping track of supplies, ordering replacements, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Assisting with Larger Repairs:
  • Working alongside skilled tradespeople on larger or more complex projects, such as major plumbing or electrical work.
Groundskeeping:
  • Maintaining lawns, gardens, and outdoor spaces, including tasks like mowing, trimming, and snow removal.
Safety:
  • Ensuring all work is performed safely, adhering to safety guidelines, and reporting any hazards.
Documentation:
  • Keeping records of maintenance activities, work orders, and inspections.
Other Duties as Assigned:
  • Miscellaneous duties that come up.
Specific Skills and Qualifications:
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to use hand and power tools for repairs and maintenance.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform physically demanding tasks.
