Job summary

Lexington City is seeking a Building Inspector I/II/III to perform building and housing code inspections and re-inspections for compliance with NC Building Codes and local laws within the Business and Community Development Department.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a valid NC driver’s license, and multiple years of building inspections or two Level II/III COQB certificates; deadline to apply is September 17th.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED.
• Valid NC driver’s license or out-of-state license with NC transfer ability and good driving record.
• Two or more years in construction trades or building inspections as required by role level.
• Standard Level I certificate in two trades or Building Level I certificate within one year.

Responsibilities

• Conduct building and housing codes inspections and re-inspections for compliance with NC Building Codes and local laws.
• Ensure compliance through observations, measurements and documentation.
• Collaborate with the Department to address violations and ensure safety.
