Responsible for the statewide oversight of inspection activities for building and facilities construction projects. Acts as field representative for facilities management regarding progress and problem resolution. Provides technical assistance in support of implementation, oversight, and review of activities. Collaborates with Construction Project Manager. Reports to the Statewide Facilities Management Supervisor. Work requires extensive travel. Work requires contact with other governmental agencies and private entities, including contractors. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.
Essential Duties:
- Observes and inspects ongoing building construction work
- Resolves differences in interpretation of plans and specifications
- Inspects to ensure contractor builds facilities and related structures in accordance with codes, plans, and specifications.
- Performs inspections and enters field report data into construction software.
- Attends monthly construction meetings and participates in discussions of project and coordinates activities.
- Documents work progress and issues arising throughout scope of project.
- Distributes inspection reports to all necessary parties
- Monitors contractor's operations to ensure compliance with contract terms and specifications.
- Attends pre-construction and project progress meetings.
- Ensures contractors perform work in accordance to plans and specifications.
- Communicates directly with Construction Project Manager concerning issues with inspection findings.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
Experience: 3 years of experience in building and facilities inspections, other closely related code compliance inspection activities. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). College education and/or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
