A Typical Day

As a Building Inspector, your day usually starts by checking your inspection schedule and permit notes in the system, then heading out to active job sites across the county. You’ll balance time in the field with time back at the office to write up findings, answer contractor and homeowner questions, and keep permits moving in a steady, government-paced workflow. Some days are straightforward; others involve tough conversations when something doesn’t meet code, and you’ll need to stay calm, clear, and consistent. You’ll also coordinate with planning and other reviewers as projects shift from plan review to construction.
