Job summary

Clark County Building Department is seeking qualified candidates for Building Inspector I/II. You will perform residential and light commercial inspections to ensure compliance with adopted codes and plans. The role includes on-the-job training and supports advancement to higher inspector levels.

Applicants must have ICC or equivalent certifications and meet education/experience requirements; training opportunities and certification costs are provided by the county.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus two years of related construction/work experience or coursework.
• Must possess valid ICC or other nationally recognized certification in one of the listed inspector roles.
• Professional level experience/education may substitute on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Inspect new and existing residential and light commercial projects for code compliance.
• Drive to inspection sites and document findings in reports.
• Confer with developers, engineers, and property owners on code requirements.
• Mentor or train less experienced inspectors and support QA activities.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Two years of construction/inspection coursework or experience

ICC certifications (residential/commercial inspector, etc.)
