Job summary

County of Riverside’s Transportation & Land Management Agency (TLMA) – Building & Safety Department seeks Building Inspectors to perform complex residential and commercial inspections across multiple regional offices. You will ensure compliance with state and local codes, coordinating with contractors, owners and developers to uphold safety and quality standards.

The role offers growth across levels, requires ICC certifications for advancement, and involves inspecting all construction phases

Qualifications

Hands-on field inspections experience for residential and commercial projects.
Knowledge of construction methods, materials, safety requirements, and building codes.
Experience overseeing projects through all phases — foundation to final occupancy.
Strong communication with contractors, owners, developers, and the public.
Commitment to accuracy and timely service delivery.

Responsibilities

Assist the public with building permit applications and plan checks.
Determine conformance to building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and accessibility codes.
Provide information on permits, fees, and procedures to the public over the counter and by phone.
Perform field inspections under supervision, advancing with experience.
Attend in-service trainings and coordinate with supervisory staff on training needs.
