The Commercial Building Inspector position is responsible for the inspection, investigation, and enforcement of construction-related codes and ordinances, serving as a combination inspector as well as enforcing other applicable Federal, State, or local ordinances, regulations, or codes.
The pay range for the Commercial position is $37.57 - $48.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, and a $2,500 sign-on bonus is also being offered. Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Work Environment
This position generally works in a field environment or construction zone to conduct inspections, with exposure to individuals who may be agitated, angry, or highly emotional. While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in person, in meetings, and by telephone; use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret complex data, information, documents, and plans; analyze and solve problems; interact with City management, other governmental officials, contractors, vendors, employees, and the public. While performing the duties of this job, an employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and at risk to the hazards generally associated with construction projects. An employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
