Job summary

City of Silsbee is seeking a Building Inspector to inspect new and existing structures, ensuring compliance with building and zoning laws to safeguard the public. The role requires strong public communication skills and five years of related experience or training in building standards, code enforcement, electrical, plumbing or mechanical work.

Valid Texas Class C Driver License and a high school diploma or GED are required.

Qualifications

• Five years of related experience or training in building standards, code enforcement, electrical work, plumbing work, mechanical work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current Certifications or experience in Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Code inspections are a plus.
• A valid Texas Class C Driver License.

Responsibilities

• Inspect new and existing buildings to enforce conformance to building and zoning laws.

• Coordinate with city departments and communicate findings to stakeholders.

Other duties may be assigned. Current Certifications or experience in Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Code inspections are a plus.
