Job summary

The City of Glendale is seeking a Building Inspector to ensure compliance with city codes and state laws during construction and remodeling projects. You will inspect various building systems, review plans, and enforce safety standards, coordinating with architects, engineers, and homeowners.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of college or vocational training in building construction or related fields and two years of inspection experience, plus an Arizona driver's license and ICC

Qualifications

• Two years of college or vocational coursework in building construction or related field.
• Two years of experience in building construction or inspections.
• ICC Certification as Building Inspector within six months of employment.
• Valid Arizona driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect industrial, commercial, and residential buildings to ensure compliance with City, State, and Federal codes.
• Review plans submitted by engineers, architects, designers, contractors, and homeowners for code compliance.
• Determine extent of damage and permits required for repairs and changes.
• Explain construction codes, methods, and requirements to stakeholders on site.
• Coordinate inspection requests and prepare inspection reports and citations.
