Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in at least one building trade or construction field.
  • Must complete core module training and be certified as an Inspector in at least one trade within 18 months.

Responsibilities

  • Enforces building and inspection codes per Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and local ordinances.
  • Visually reviews plans for compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Inspects new, existing, or alteration work and maintains inspection records.
  • Issues permits and assists the public with permit information.
  • Presents cases in court for code violations and maintains vehicle and equipment.
