Job summary

Staffmark Group in Riverside, CA is hiring a Building Inspector to enforce municipal codes on residential, commercial, and industrial construction. You’ll inspect sites in the field and in offices, review plans, verify permits, and ensure compliance throughout all construction phases.

Qualified applicants possess a high school diploma or GED, ICC Building Inspector certification, California driver’s license, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of municipal inspection experience involving residential, commercial, or industrial properties.
  • Valid California Class C Driver's License (or ability to obtain).
  • ICC Building Inspector Certification required.
  • ICC Combination Dwelling Inspector Certificate or equivalent in plumbing, mechanical, and electrical inspection required.
  • Thorough knowledge of building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, zoning, and health codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with computers and applicable software programs.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments, including active construction sites.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects for code compliance.
  • Conduct inspections through all construction phases from excavation to final completion.
  • Inspect foundations, framing, and systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
  • Verify compliance with plans, permits, and regulations.
  • Inspect pools, structural installations, and bonding requirements.
  • Investigate complaints and inspect structures for hazards or illegal conditions.
  • Issue correction notices, stop-work orders, and inspection reports.
  • Assist contractors, property owners, and the public with code guidance and permitting.
  • Verify contractor licensing and permit compliance on job sites.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements
