Job description

BPR Consulting Group ( www.bpr-grp.com ) is seeking an experienced and certified Building Official / Senior Building Inspector to join our growing company and serve one of our key clients in the San Joaquin County area.

The successful candidates must possess the ability to work independently, communicate effectively and maintain professional working relationships with clients, coworkers, and permit applicants. Political awareness along with the ability to work with elected officials, City officials and the department customers will be essential to the success of the selected individuals.

  • Manages Building Department operations for an assigned client agency.

2. Apply knowledge of building codes, policies, and procedures to the day-to-day functions of a building department.

  • Consults with engineers, architects, developers, contractors, and the public on construction and building code issues, responds to questions regarding codes and regulations.

4. Plan review of minor projects for residential and commercial building, alterations, remodels, and additions.

5. Performs field inspections on all phases of residential and commercial construction.

  • Issues Certificates of Occupancy for completed projects.
  • Create and maintain reports, plan review files and inspection logs for all building projects.
  • Maintain clients permitting database.
  • Perform all work consistent with BPR's and Clients policies and procedures.
  • Provide all services in an efficient, proactive, and client focused manner.

Desired Qualifications:

· Five (5) plus years as a building official or building inspector for a local or state fire or building department or equivalent related experience.

· Must possess knowledge and application of plan review and construction processes.

· Experience in the interpretation and application of building codes.

· Advanced knowledge of California Building Codes.

· Good driving record.

Certification Requirements:

  • ICC Plan Review certifications preferred
