MAJOR FUNCTIONS
The Building Inspections Supervisor oversees the team of Building Inspectors who are tasked with inspecting development projects, in accordance with relevant state and local codes, standards, approved plans, and manufacturer specifications and requirements. He or she assigns work, provides direction, trains, and evaluates the County’s building inspectors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma and have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the building construction profession or trades, and five (5) years as a construction inspector.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to secure a valid Florida Driver’s license at the time of employment for this position.
MANDATORY CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Must possess a standard license as a Building Code Administrator from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).
Must possess four (4) of the following standard Inspectors licenses in the following trades: Building, Commercial Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical and Residential from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). Failure to maintain all mandatory licenses may be cause for termination.
A Plans Reviewer license may be substituted in lieu of one (1) of the building inspector license requirements.

This position is exempt and is therefore not eligible for overtime.
Travel is limited to within the County unless employee is attending out-of-county training or workshops.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
This position shall be required to report for work when a declaration of emergency has been declared in Polk County.
