Job summary

The City of Williamsburg is seeking applicants for a Building Facilities Technician to maintain City buildings and parking garages, perform electrical, lighting, plumbing and HVAC work, and diagnose issues.

This non-exempt, full-time position requires a high school diploma, 3 years' experience or equivalent, and a Virginia driver's license; preferred HVAC/electrical certifications and strong mechanical knowledge.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Three years of experience in construction, building maintenance, or general repair.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Perform skilled maintenance of City’s public buildings and parking garages.
• Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, lighting, plumbing, and HVAC.

Job description

The City of Williamsburg is seeking applicants to fill the Buidling Facilities Technician position. This position is responsible for performing skilled work in the maintenance of the City’s public buildings and parking garages, including electrical, street and park lighting, plumbing, and HVAC.

Education And Experience

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent; and
• Three (3) years of experience in construction, building maintenance, and/or general repair work; or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Qualifications

• Valid Virginia driver’s license
• Acceptable criminal background, DMV check and drug screen results

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in HVAC, electrical or related
• Knowledgeable of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems, with demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing issues. Strong technical knowledge of system maintenance practices and procedures is highly desirable
