Stantec’s Portland office is seeking a Building Science Consultant to join our Portland team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early‑career professional who is eager to develop their technical skills in building science and building enclosure consulting.

We are a multidisciplinary group of engineers and architects specializing in building enclosure design, investigation, and rehabilitation for both new and existing buildings.

Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of building science principles (air, thermal, moisture, vapor control).
• Strong interest in building enclosure design and investigation.
• Ability to manage tasks across multiple projects with guidance.
• Willingness to learn and work collaboratively in a team.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Interest in developing technical writing skills.
• Professional attitude, curiosity, and a strong work ethic.
• Construction site experience is an asset.
• Familiarity with construction materials, drawings, and specifications.
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Revit.
• Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record.

Responsibilities

• Review project drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals.
• Participate in site visits and document findings in reports.
• Support building envelope investigations and condition assessments.
• Assist with field testing of enclosure performance (water/air leakage, whole-building tests, infrared).
• Document project mock-ups observations and outcomes.
• Attend design/construction meetings and capture actions.
• Assist with basic project coordination tasks.
• Help write technical reports and organize data.
• Provide drafting and design support using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Participate in internal training and continuing education programs.
• Work in a combination of office and field environments.
